Who: Riku, possibly other people
What: Work
Where: Temple Town Library
When: Mid-morning, early afternoon
Riku normally disliked working in a library.
Sure, he didn't have to interact with people constantly and it really wasn't a difficult job, so it wasn't all bad. But it got boring sometimes. It was strange going from a situation where he had to fight something almost every time he stepped outside to, well, not. And having to keep a job, something he hadn't expected to have to do for at least another year or two.
But there was a bright spot, though it happened rarely. Since Riku worked by himself, he could close the library temporarily if he had to, and there came such an instance to do just that. A new shipment of books had arrived recently, and he decided it would be easier to do it himself than try to get any of his coworkers in to help, and closed the place for the day.
However, he had propped the front door open--with the 'closed' sign, actually--to get some fresh air. If anyone wanted to bother him, they were welcome to, as long as they put the sign back.

Date: 2012-03-08 05:51 am (UTC)Why he was headed for the library was another story entirely. While he had been small and easily squishable, he had asked Riku to check out a couple of books on the local lore. They hadn't really given him any hints to what he could do about whatever problem this world might have, but he had found something he needed to go and discuss with the healers. It wasn't an emergency, but it was important. For the moment, he was just returning the books and seeing what else might be of interest.
The front door being wide open and propped open with the 'closed' sign was mildly amusing, though he did wonder why exactly this was the case. It made a lot more sense when he peeked in and saw Riku putting the new books away... by himself. Well, there went Sora's day off, but he really didn't mind.
"Hey, do you need some help with that?" He'd more or less made up his mind that he wasn't taking 'no' for an answer.

Date: 2012-03-08 06:25 am (UTC)He had taken the opportunity of no one else being there to spread books out across the library, stacking them wherever they needed to go and generally making a big mess. There had been only a handful of people who actually approached the front door, and most of them left quietly after reading the sign. So it startled Riku slightly when he heard Sora's voice outside, and he had to scramble to keep the stack of books in his arms from sliding to the floor.
Riku's response was a shrug and a jerk of the head, indicating that Sora should come in, before he wandered off with the books. If Sora wanted to close the door when he entered, he could.

Date: 2012-03-08 07:15 am (UTC)He wandered over to where he'd seen Riku headed. There were a couple of questions he wanted to ask, such as why exactly Riku was doing this alone when there were a couple other people employed at the library, but that would require either the notebook or a bit more talking than Riku was likely to want to do.
"Got new books in?" It was a brain dead and obvious question, but at the same time, very relevant. Maybe there was something in these new books that would point towards some of the things he'd been trying to find out.

Date: 2012-03-14 04:33 am (UTC)Sora was welcome to ask questions, since Riku actually had one of his smaller notebooks in one of his pockets and therefore handy, and if he didn't want to write, he could always turn on one of the computers in the lab and use that. He nodded in response to the one question, gesturing at a few boxes of books nearby, then pointing to a mostly-empty bookshelf to show where he was putting them.

Date: 2012-03-14 05:34 am (UTC)"So how come no one else is here?" He halfway suspected that maybe the shipment had arrived early or something to that effect, but there were other possibilities.

Date: 2012-03-22 03:39 am (UTC)Riku tilted his head towards Sora at the question, then reached for a pen and notebook when he was done talking. A minute of writing and generally scribbling on the paper later, he handed it to Sora.
Cant call coworkers it read, followed by a drawing of a phone with an X over it. and wanted to do it by myself.

Date: 2012-03-22 03:42 am (UTC)"Oh... Um..."
Okay, he felt more than just kind of stupid and Roxas scoffing at him in the back of his mind wasn't helpful.
"Would it bug you if I wanted to help?"
Wow, I'm bad at consistency
Date: 2012-03-27 04:02 am (UTC)He scrawled a longer response below his first one, passing the notebook to Sora afterwards.
'You can help sort if you want. Thats what I was doing. Just stack stuff that goes together.'
